Welcome!
Texans in WWII Blog

In 1943, the Dallas Historical Society put out a statewide call for photographs and biographies of men and women from Texas serving in the war. The end result was the Texans Decorated Collection which contains thousands of records from the families of individuals who not only fought, but received honors during World War II.

Inspired by the stories contained within these unique records, this blog features content exclusively from this collection, which up until now has not been made available online. Each week we’ll spotlight one veteran and share details from their life and military career.

The Dallas Historical Society

Established in 1922, the Dallas Historical Society collects, preserves, and exhibits the heritage of Dallas and Texas to educate and inspire present and future generations.

Our archival materials document the history of Dallas, Dallas County, and Texas through documents, photographs, books, and artifacts.
